Mandarin Bilingual Tutor/Teacher
Hi! It feels great to be your tutor. I am a teacher in Mandarin and have experience with multilingual culture. Such diversity has impacted great flexibility in the way I teach. I very much enjoy the knowledge I learn from my mentors of other cultures and am a tutor that is approachable and easy to get along with. I teach in a step-by-step, progressive ideology until mastery. Given the student, I engage and manage them well. If the student is struggling, lessons will be broken down into more manageable pieces until they are mentally comprehensible and digestible. It takes a while to hone the skill of the learner, so I think it is important to set the time and space needed for them to absorb it. Lessons will be slowly learned from a platform where the student can easily understand. Tools needed are audio, video, and other visual aids. It is also fine to introduce games that will not only encourage the learner but also create an innate base skill as a foundation for more challenging information. This early foundation initiates the confidence that will build around a healthy self-esteem. With this in mind, the child will start to learn oral vocabularies with an introduction of correct pinyin tones. It is essential to adapt to and learn to speak the proper tones understandable to a near-native accent. Fluency will gradually set in through the practice of more complicated sentences and phrases. It is essential to use songs and rhythms to learn. Lessons that impart audio tools by listening to recordings are an advantage. Getting the child exposed to cartoons on televisions or multimedia improves oral skills and listening skills. However, the focus of Mandarin is not only on its reading and speaking aspects. It is essential that the learner learns writing through basic strokes, wherein they are being asked to write with a pencil and sometimes in calligraphy. Basic strokes, in their simplest technique, are being taught. The child can start with simpler characters until they have memorized the sequencing.
